Review: Benner Tea Co Sweetened Iced Tea

I live in the American South and grew up in a house where fresh brewed sweet iced tea was almost always in the fridge. I’ve gotten in the same habits as an adult but every now and then I like the shortcut of a premade tea and this Aldi Benner iced tea is one of the best ones I’ve had.

This tea is in the refrigerated aisle of Aldi along with the milk and is not the same as the Benner tea in the nonperishable aisle. I don't know what it is but I can't stand those teas with preservatives

This iced tea has the clean fresh-brewed flavor of steeped black tea leaves. It is subtly sweet despite cane sugar being the first item on the ingredient list. If you are looking for that good ol' southern sweet you may have to add some simple syrup.

I am a little bit ashamed at how fast I went through this the first time I got it. I hope this tea sticks around because it is a great deal.

Review: Bake Shop Pumpkin Sliced Loaf Cake

It’s pumpkin spice season ! I know it makes me super basic, but I, for the most part, am here for the spice.

The Aldi Bake Shop pumpkin sliced loaf cake was absolutely delicious and everything I wanted. The moist, spongy cake has a strong buttery flavor with some mild pumpkin spice notes. The outer edges are glazed but the glaze literally has no flavor and just made the edges soggy.

The texture of this cake reminds me of the Aldi triple chocolate creme cake. I honestly can’t tell if the sliced loaf cake is supposed to be breakfast bread or a dessert. Either way, I couldn’t wait to pair it with a glass of iced coffee.

I noticed Aldi had a ton of pumpkin and pumpkin spice products and I can’t wait to review them this fall!

Review: Barissimo Toasted Coconut Coffee

I was immediately impressed with how aromatic this coffee was compared to Barissimo's salted caramel flavored coffee. When you open Barissimo's toasted coconut coffee you're met with a strong tropical scent and a gentle undertone of rich coffee.

I  brewed one heaping tablespoon with 6 ounces of water and it made my kitchen smell delightfully like coconut. The coffee was bold and flavorful, the coconut complimented it well without being overpowering

I’m a big fan of flavored coffees and coconut can be a hard flavor to find, but Aldi gets this coffee 100% right. I can’t wait to try this one over ice.

Review: Simply Nature Chai Tea Latte

All you have to do is add hot milk to this chai concentrate to have an instant chai latte. I followed the portion recommendations on the box and mixed equal parts tea concentrate and milk. On first sip, I didn’t get that bold spicy chai flavor I was looking for. The tea concentrate itself was very caramel-y and sweet. This was a disappointing chair but I’d recommend this if you’re looking for more of a sweetened black milk tea.

AO Tip: Froth your warm milk with a handheld milk frother for a light and foamy texture!

Review: Barissimo Salted Caramel Coffee

This light roast ground Aldi brand coffee will make your house smell delightfully like coffee and sweet caramel, but the actual coffee may leave you wanting more of that promised rich salted caramel flavor.

I tried this coffee in an electric coffee pot and in a pour over ( I know, classy). I drink it black with a dash of sugar and both times I couldn’t get the caramel flavor to stand out. It’s good coffee, just not good flavored coffee. It was nowhere near as bold as my go-to Hazelnut Barrisimo flavored coffee.

Review: Moiselle Sweet Grapefruit Rosé (Limited Edition)

In my Aldi the wine is the first section I walk past and I always pick something up even though my wine palette is alarmingly unsophisticated. I’ll drink pretty much anything in a social situation but my home collection is mostly different flavors of Stella Rosa. I say all that to say the even with that context, this limited edition grapefruit flavored rosé was way too sweet for my blood. This beverage is sa-weet.

I don’t get much rosé  from it but it does tastes exactly like a grapfruit, down to that specific harsh aftertaste. I’m not a grapefruit person so I can’t say I enjoyed this. It may be good if you are looking for something wine cooler adjacent or this would be great for a mimosa mix in.

Review: Sundae Shoppe Vanilla Minis Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches

These little ice creams are one of my favorite Aldi products, they’re basically like ice cream sandwiches except 100% better.

The ice cream center is creamy and smooth with a light vanilla sweetness. The real star in this bite-sized dessert is the cookie. The soft chocolate cookies have a rich fudge-like flavor that pairs perfectly with the ice cream.

On the box they prominently advertise that these are 60 per serving calories and while that sounds good be warned … these cookies are small. They are about the size of an Oreo and it’s pretty easy to down two or three (or more) in one sitting.

The only downside is the packaging, the tray of cookies is wrapped in plastic and once you open it there is no way to seal them back up. I’d definitely have a freezer bag on hand to store these in.

I’ve seen them in stores recently, but they're a seasonal item so go grab it right now !
